Have you ever practiced intentional eating?
You probably have. Even if you didn’t call it that. Maybe you grabbed a snack before running errands so you wouldn’t get dizzy and buy the entire Target snack aisle. Maybe you listened when your body said, “Hey, a little something fresh would be nice.” That counts. We’re all more aware than we give ourselves credit for.
But intentional eating becomes really helpful when we look at whether that awareness is consistent or just something that shows up when we happen to be on our A-game. The holidays have a funny way of throwing structure out the window. Suddenly there are three different pies in the house and we forgot vegetables exist. And that’s okay. Food is joy. It’s tradition. It’s comfort. Intentional eating isn’t about skipping the foods you wait all year to enjoy. It’s about planning enough support around those foods to actually enjoy them without the aftermath.
One of my favorite ways to do that is grazing. Eating little bits throughout the day instead of saving up all your hunger for one giant meal where you pile a plate so high the physics don’t even make sense anymore. When we graze, our body keeps up. We stay energized, our blood sugar stays more stable, and we can taste everything we love without that immediate regret moment where the waistband gets tight and suddenly horizontal is the only position that sounds reasonable.
Which brings us to the “fart walk.”
Yes, I’m calling it that. Yes, I’m absolutely keeping it in this blog. Because here’s the deal: when we eat, especially creamy, carby, holiday levels of eating, our digestive system creates gasses. Those gasses are supposed to move along and exit however your body prefers to make that happen. But when we eat a ton and then go straight to the couch, those gasses get trapped. That’s when the stomach aches roll in, and suddenly you’re wondering if you’re genuinely ill or if Uncle Randy undercooked the green bean casserole again.
So instead, genius idea… we move.
A lap around the block with the cousin you actually like. A breathing break from the crowd. A few steps outside to look at the lights. Whatever gives your body the signal: “We’re still in motion. Let’s keep digestion rolling.”
And yes, the inevitable de-gas-ulation (medical term? No. Effective? Absolutely.) makes everything feel better in both body and mood.
Then the holiday settles. The dishes get washed. The leftovers go into labeled containers that no one will remember exist by Sunday. And that’s often when our body taps us on the shoulder with a little reminder: time to find balance again.
This is the moment I personally love. The recalibration. Not punishment. Not restriction. Just a gentle return to feeling like you again. Maybe that looks like choosing foods with more fiber and less frosting. Maybe it looks like swapping soda for water or adding a juice in the morning so your cells wake up before your coffee does. Maybe it looks like probiotics to get your gut back into a harmonious rhythm instead of a percussion section.
Or maybe, and I say this lovingly, your body is ready for real support. A little reset. A break from digesting heavy foods while still flooding your system with nutrients that actually make you feel alive again.
That is exactly why our 3-Day Balance Pack exists.
It is not a cleanse to erase the fun. It is a cleanse that honors it. You lived! You celebrated! You enjoyed! And now we help your digestion catch up, your energy return, and your mood lift. It is intentional eating in a very accessible, very delicious format.
Because what we believe at the very core of 86 Cold Press is simple:
Feeling good should not pause for the holidays.
You deserve to have the nostalgic meals and have the energy to enjoy the people at the table.
You deserve to celebrate and feel comfortable in your skin the next day.
You deserve balance. The kind that lets you be present the entire season.
Enjoy the food.
Laugh at the stories.
Take the fart walk.
And when your body is ready for a comeback, we will be right here with fresh-pressed support, delivered by 8am.
Holidays are better when you feel good in them.
Here’s to enjoying every moment, and every bite, with intention. ✨
